About us

We are best described as an evangelical and charismatic church.  That means we take the Bible seriously and believe it is God's word for us today.  It also means we believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to transform lives, heal and set people free.   We try to make space in our worship for the Holy Spirit to be at work and we offer prayer for those who want it at the end of the service.  If you're new to St Peter's the FAQ will tell you more.

On a Sunday morning there are around 60 adults and 15 children:  half live in Broadwater and half live in other parts of Stevenage and Knebworth.

We are an Anglican Church, which means we belong to the Church of England.  The Church of England is divided up into different areas, called Dioceses, and we are in the Diocese is St Albans.

PCC - Parochial Church Council

The Parochial Church Council is the governing body of a parish church. The PCC is a team made up of members of clergy and lay members of the church. Together they are responsible for the overall wellbeing of their church, practical as well as spiritual. This includes the church members, and the church buildings.
